Monster
Jam 2 was a lot of fun! If you missed it, too bad,
that was it for 2004. We gave away lots of cool prizes
from Dubro, HPI, Hitec,
Team Associated, Trinity, Gorilla Maxx, Pro-Line, and
R/C Solutions. There was even a raffle for a Team Losi
Mini-T. All
of the details are covered below so read on...
We will continue to run
Monster Jams in 2005 starting in May
or June. There is also going to be a 1/18th scale
indoor event over the winter, details will go out in
the newsletter as soon as things are finalized. With
so many 1/18th trucks coming out since the release
of the Mini-T we have to do something! |

Obstacle
Course Racing -
This was the biggest obstacle course yet. 2 trucks went head to
head in an elimination style event.
Drivers raced down the 1st straight having to negotiate through multiple
chicanes. A 180 degree turn brought them back down another straight
and over 2 sets of jumps. A final 180 turned 2 lanes into one as
the trucks flew over the 12 foot long whoop section in a dash for
the finish line.
It all came down to Norman Lackhouse racing Gabe Guild for the overall win. In
a sprint for the finish Norman was able to edge out Gabe by less a tenth of a
second! Great job on the win Norman.
All
of the trucks that lost round 1 had their own showdown, leaving
Jim Tomic to take the win. The plan was to have Jim race Norman
but Jim's truck
broke at the end of his winning run leaving Norman the undisputed
champ!
More
obstacles are already being build so that the course will get bigger
and even more challenging in 2005. Additional whoop
sections, more jumps, and something totally new to the Monster
Jam, (you have to wait until the next Jam to see
for yourself)

Big
Jump Contest / Radar Runs - The big jump has always been our
most popular event along with the obstacle course. We love jumping
in
Tinley
because the landing area is always something soft. This year we
placed the
big jump at the west end of the parking lot. Drivers had the entire
lot, almost 200 feet, to build up speed before launching off the
jump. The best part, nothing but thick green grass to land in!
Driver
Bill Justic launched his brushless stadium truck 50 feet after
hitting the ramp at 39 MPH! Ryan Michalowski sent his T-Maxx
45 feet after reaching 32 MPH.
Since
the trucks were taking the same path that they would be using
for the radar runs, we were clocking them as they hit the jump.
Look at Geno in the picture sitting to the right of the ramp, that
is where we were clocking the drivers. This kept us on schedule
and in the end worked out perfect for everyone as they made 4 recorded
attempts at the jump and as many more after that as they wanted to!
